Travel & Stay

Hotels

There are a lot of hostels in Antigua so make sure to avoid booking those. Most hotels in Antigua are boutique hotels so they sell out fast. Our recommendations are below but feel free to book wherever works best for you. The general area from the hotels below is recommended for easy walkability.

Airbnb’s

We highly recommend staying in Barrios Coloniales. It’s a gated community where our immediate families will be staying at, the prices are cheap, and there’ll be a wedding shuttle stop there.
If not possible there then look for Airbnb’s in Antigua.

Transportation

Flights
Fly into Airport: La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City.

For U.S. and Mexican passport holders, Guatemala currently lists both the United States and Mexico as visa-exempt for ordinary passports.

Check requirements if you are traveling on a different passport. For Mexican travelers, Mexico's government currently recommends that passports have at least six months of validity for travel to Guatemala.

Getting from GUA to Antigua
Getting from the airport → Antigua will take about an hour with heavy traffic

Private shuttle and group transportation option: https://www.roadrunnerguatemala.com/#booking

Uber will work great and cost about $50 per ride

Ubers and Car rentals
Uber works great in Guatemala and is surprisingly cheap, your regular Uber app will work. Lyft does not exist in Guatemala or any other rideshare app.

Car rentals are also cheap but unless you plan on exploring Guatemala on your own (without the greater group) we would not recommend it as it won’t be needed.

Tuk-tuks are small taxi services that you can use within Antigua to travel short distances, hail them like you would a cab! See picture above for reference.
